Plot Summary
The Nun II picks up four years after the events of The Nun (2018), further expanding the Conjuring Universe with a deeper dive into the origins and continued terror of Valak, the demon nun. Set in 1956 France, the story follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as she is once again called upon to confront the malevolent entity that haunted her in the first film.
The film begins with a series of gruesome murders at Catholic churches across Europe, all connected by a mysterious symbol. Irene is reluctantly drawn back into the fray when the Vatican assigns her to investigate the incidents. This time, she is joined by a young novice, Sister Debra (Storm Reid), whose faith is tested as they uncover the chilling truth behind the murders.
Meanwhile, Maurice (Jonas Bloquet), who had survived the events of the first film but remains marked by Valakโs influence, finds himself at the center of the demonโs renewed plans. As Irene and Debra dig deeper, they discover that Valak is using Maurice as a vessel to spread chaos and corruption.
The climax takes place in an abandoned abbey where Irene must confront Valak once again, leading to a visually stunning and intense showdown. The film ends with a chilling hint that Valakโs influence has not been fully vanquished, setting the stage for future installments in the franchise.
